A few weeks ago I started a project that has been on my to-do list for far too long.
I started digitizing C-tapes. I have about 1000 tapes from the tapetrade days and the originals on top of that, which I have also accumulated a lot.
The oldest of the tapes are over 30 years old. I started trading in 1989, so there is a lot of stuff. My personal collection on the Metal-Archives site has over 50,000 recordings, and that's not even everything, if you count all the practice, live, etc. recordings.
Tapetrade ended for me in October 2003, when the last tape was dated.
Tape trading was replaced by CD-R trading in 2002 and shortly after that it changed to mp3 trading.
The mp3 trading took its time, but my contacts lost their enthusiasm very quickly when the internet became the channel for UG music too.
Now I have noticed that not everything is known by the internet when I have converted old tapes to digital format.
Unfortunately, I must say that some of the tapes have suffered so much that it cannot be ignored in the final result.
Maybe I should learn how to use Audacity to create FLAC files, so that the original and authentic sound is preserved as good as possible.
Oh yeah. I almost forgot...
